With Narrative Therapy. I assist you creating a new narrative and story for your life. With Narrative Therapy, my space will allow you an ability to tell your story, Furthermore, we work on self talk and empowerment based language. The things we tell ourselves and others DO guide the way we view OUR story (aka our lives). This modality also allows for exploring existentialism based thinking. This means you are free and responsible to determine your own development.
With DBT, I assist you in entering WISE mind. WISE mind is where logical thinking meets emotional thinking for an even balance. We work on mindfulness skills & emotional regulation skills. We explore finding balance with interventions like PLEASE. This focus is about working on treating physical illness, focusing on balanced eating, avoiding mood altering substances, focusing on balanced sleep and exercise. There are other helpful interventions as well to help with boundaries & communication
I utilize CBT. This is a modality where your thoughts effect how you feel, How you feel effects how you behave. How you behave can reinforce your thoughts. With CBT, we work on these interconnecting relationships and explore how to interrupt them. I assist you helping yourself break dysfunctional or unhealthy patterns in order to develop healthy patterns of functioning. With CBT, we explore task oriented problem solving together and cognitive restructuring/reframing (new thinking patterns)
Being a teen is hard enough on its own. If you have had a traumatic experience, it can be even harder. I have interventions to help you process your trauma in a safe and objective environment. If you feel alone and unheard, this can be even more challenging. I allow for confidential place to process stressors and find helpful tools that can lend towards possible solutions. If you've engage in self harm, I can help with self harming alternatives and emotional exploration. Life can be easier
If you have a hard time sitting still, we can work on meditation & calming skills. If you find that your snapping at people or being irritable, we can work on healthy communication skills and boundaries. If you feel like you are anxious about most things, most days, we can work on emotional regulation skills. If you are struggling with panic attacks, we can work on identifying early physical symptoms known as warning signs & work on early interventions. With interventions you can learn control
People can struggle with various degrees of depression. Whether you feel yours is mild, moderate or severe. There are useful interventions to help you feel unstuck. If your having challenges sleeping, I can help by exploring sleep hygiene skills with you. If your mind is wondering and not able to stay in the present, working on mindfulness skills together an help. If you cant stop crying or cant leave your room or bed, we can work on opposite action or positive behavioral activation.
