About My Clients
My clients come to therapy because they want to make changes but feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsupported. I often work with women, LGBTQIA+, and/or neurodivergent folks, but warmly welcome clients of all identities. Issues include depression; anxiety; disability; relationships; trauma; life transitions; career changes; and exploring identity and meaning. If you often feel like an outsider, struggle to accept your full self, or are just plain struggling, let's connect - you deserve support!
My Background and Approach
What's it like to be in session with me? I am grounded, warm, and practical, and I bring gentle humor to hard conversations. The atmosphere is collaborative and respectful — I don't rush to diagnose or "fix" anyone. I take the time to slow down and understand your unique strengths and struggles. My goal is to create a non-judgmental space where you can discover new strengths, practice coping skills, heal, and build resilience. My work is grounded in humanistic and psychodynamic theory, with an inclusive feminist lens. I will look for your strengths — not just your symptoms. As we talk, we can explore whether your challenges are rooted in patterns from your past, or your unconscious. I also consider how larger social and political systems impact you and your relationships. Most importantly, I see therapy as a collaborative effort. Depending on your needs, we can draw on a variety of tools, from somatics to Jungian dream work to CBT. I am also certified in CBT-I (CBT for Insomnia).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I became a psychotherapist in midlife. Before that, I worked as an activist, a full-time parent, and an attorney, all experiences that enrich my approach to therapy. No matter my job title, my focus has been on supporting and empowering people, whether they are in crisis or just looking to connect with their authentic selves. I believe deeply in my clients, and I believe deeply that psychotherapy can change lives — and changing one life can change the world. These are destabilizing times. If you feel overwhelmed, angry, or frozen right now, that is valid. Connection is an antidote to that: At its best, therapy helps you connect with your authentic self, which, in turn, strengthens your capacity to connect more deeply with others, and to be in community. It is hard to show up for others if we don't show up for ourselves — therapy is a powerful way to do that.
