My Background and Approach
I practice contemporary psychodynamic therapy, which is a depth oriented approach that sees your problems as a result of your whole story. It makes sense of the how and why you struggle. My style of therapy aims for you to know your own heart and mind in ways that might be new to you, and to help you understand how your past impacts your present. Commonly, people see me when other modalities have felt sterile, unhelpful, or they have yet to feel understood. Psychodynamic treatment can last as long as it needs to, it centers the client-therapist relationship, and it can help with almost any problem.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Transparency, critical thinking, humility, and common sense through an anti-oppressive lens are the values that drive my practice. I participate in continuing education every year in subjects like ethics, diversity/inclusion, and evidence based practices. With over a decade of experience in mental health, I've never lost sight of how hard it is to find a good therapist match and how vulnerable it feels to reach out. Nobody contacts a therapist when things are going well. I take your distress seriously and I strive to respond to all inquiries within two business days.
