About My Clients
I use a direct approach while in session with clients. For clients, I want to help guide the path towards acceptance as they set goals, find inner strength, and build social support to overcome obstacles, and confront challenges. I write letters for gender confirmation surgeries and HRT. I also use EMDR to treat traumatic memories and events. I also treat addiction, dual-diagnosis, spirituality, anxiety, gender identity, HIV, depression, divorce, grief and religious abuse.
My Background and Approach
My therapy goals for my clients are to move from a place of uncertainty and suffering to growth, healing and understanding. I help clients set goals, build social support and discover new ways of understanding situations that happen in life. Clients can expect to overcome obstacles, confront challenges and achieve a balanced and full life. As a gay man in recovery, I meet clients where they are in life and that is always my starting point while building a relationship to facilitate change.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I enjoy working with clients from all backgrounds and appreciate the stories of how people endured and overcome obstacles to build a healthier present and future life. I like to view trauma as a forest that caught on fire; after everything burns to the ground, the fertilizer from the ash helps to rebuild the forest to be stronger and healthier than before. I overcame many obstacles in life which allowed me to be in a position to help my LGBTQIA+ as much as possible.
