I want to support you in tapping into your own font of local expert knowledge that you may be feeling disconnected from. Motivational Interviewing has been one of the primary tools I have utilized to promote the changes people have been wanting for themselves, and are ready to move from contemplation into taking action. Having worked in the mental health field for more than a decade, I have extensive experience walking side-by-side with people seeking mental health and substance use recovery.
Problems are only problems because they have accompanying solutions. I believe that even before our first session you have some ideas, however small, that you've been building and working on towards changes you're hoping to make. I want to empower you to tap into the strengths and skills you possess and have helped you. My goal is to assist you be clear about those goals, refine the actions you're taking to achieve them, and cultivate effective small steps to shift towards making solutions real.
I want to collaborate with you in reauthoring your story. Instead of emphasizing the problems, we will build space for solutions to be highlighted in your story. This allows us to reflect together on the elements of your journey you may have missed but don't want to forget. Together we can rewrite a story that centers the people, values, and strengths that have helped and guided you all along so you can reconnect with the relationships and community most important to you.
