About My Clients
My clients are fierce spirits, who truly know what it means to be in the arena called life. You may have experienced major hardship in your past, and continue to thrive despite what opposition family, community and culture have presented. However, you are beginning to notice the impact of a life lived in the arena of multiple worlds and the battle scars are showing up as irritability, headaches, body pain, racing and intrusive thoughts, trouble sleeping, restlessness, edginess and fatigue.
My Background and Approach
I believe our bodies house the wisdom of our ancestors and also have everything we need to live our best lives. I specifically use somatic-based modalities (work with the body) to help inform the next right step in therapy. I will also partner with you to build intentional skills to support yourself outside our sessions for sustainable well-being. Although born and raised in the United States, I chose to go to India for my MA in Social Work and came back to the US to continue my clinical training. My decision to go to India for graduate studies continues to be a revolutionary force in the work I do and how I see the world. I specialize in working with toxic/traumatic stress, survivors of gender-based violence, first generation/intergenerational issues, and South Asian folks in the LGBTQ+ community. This includes adult children of families impacted by intimate partner violence, and adult survivors of child sexual abuse who are now navigating their own unique paths.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
You can share as much or as little as you want in therapy, and still find peace. I know when trauma or stress impacts our life, choice can be the first thing that is taken from us. I also know what it means to be in therapy space where further marginalization can happen, especially if the therapist does not understand the complexity of your lived experiences. I share power in the therapy space, so your unique voice, experiences, and body are honored. I do this by inviting you into the depths of this work. Each step is a choice that is navigated together. I bring in a global perspective, not only from my work with individuals all over the world, but also from my own healing journey as a South Asian American woman. I believe there can be relief and a path forward no matter what stage of life you are in and what you have survived in your past.
