I provide a safe and warm healing space. The experience of trauma can leave us feeling fragmented and disconnected from our aliveness and vibrancy. Healing requires patience and compassion, as we reconnect with the most tender and isolated parts of ourselves. I also locate the personal trauma within the context of intergenerational trauma. When the personal heals it breaks the downward cascade of intergenerational trauma. As individuals heal they open up to the experience of joy and exuberance.
Relationships can be a source of joy and support, while also evoking in us our deepest fears and unhealed wounds. I enjoy working with all relational dynamics. Our context and the agreements we make with life and others is dependent upon our unique experience. I offer a safe space to explore each individual's need in and out of the relational space, while also focusing on the co-created bond. I specialize in working with interracial relationships and LBGTQ+ community.
I have lived experience of being a first generation immigrant. I have nuanced understanding of the complexities involved in the process of assimilation. Immigrants are required to rediscover themselves in a whole new context. I understand what it means to hold a different cultural, ethnic and racial identity and the feeling of isolation that creates. It is an ever balancing act of letting go and holding on to parts of ourselves in the desire for connection and belonging.
I specialize working with Developmental Trauma, Single Event Acute Trauma, Complex Trauma and Socially based Trauma. The impact of trauma can collapse one's world and leave one fragmented as the need for safety is heightened and vigilant parts are constantly alert. I use somato-emotional framework to help my client develop skills such as recognition and regulation of the nervous system arousal, grounding, tracking present moment experience, resourcing and processing of traumatic experiences.
My therapy is client-centered and collaborative. My approach is strength based. I trust the client's capability to find their own answers as they sit with the most meaningful questions. I am able to pull from different modalities and incorporate different orientations based on client's needs and style. I blend concepts from western psychology with Eastern wisdom traditions. I serve people of all economic backgrounds, ethnicities, sexual orientations, religious beliefs and non-believers.
I work with different constellations of relationships within all ranges of sexual orientation, ethnic and gender identities. I provide a safe and warm environment to explore our hurt, our vulnerabilities and our deepest longings that are evoked within the complex interactions with our loved ones. I draw from key concepts and methods of Couples Counseling such at Emotionally Focused Therapy, Experiential Therapy, Attachment Theory and Gottman Method.
