Accepting new clients* My name is Rob and I work with survivors of trauma, abuse, or domestic violence through individual and group therapy!
Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in Los Angeles, CA
As any survivor of domestic violence can tell you, decisions about love or commitment aren't always simple. What might seem like an easy choice to others, seems insurmountable to you. Why don't you leave? Why can't you say how you feel? Why don't you just get over it? If it sounds like I've been there before, it's because I have. Restoring equality in my relationships has been the gift that keeps on giving; and I'm here to share the gift with you (through individual or group therapy)!
Defining one's own gender identity is a process many people struggle with. As a therapist, I've supported numerous clients in this process and have always found my warm, accepting approach to help them feel comfortable in expressing themselves. I don't act like the expert on gender identity. Rather, I acknowledge how one's gender identity can only defined by oneself while assisting with identifying and removing barriers to progress (toxic relationships, communication skills, etc.).
When you have survived trauma, it can feel like there's no way to feel like yourself again. You want a cure, but you'd be fine with healing too. Making that first call to a new therapist is scary and telling a stranger all your deepest, darkest secrets to try and feel better can seem hopeless. I won't wave a magic wand to make your problems go away. What I will do is walk with you on your path to healing. It's easy to get lost on that path. Luckily, my experience and compassion are the GPS.
Mindfulness-based Therapy supports clients in elevating their awareness of their own internal processes. I utilized Mindfulness in sessions during meditation and breathing exercises to help clients understand their own mind, body, and soul on a deeper connection.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy has supported clients in achieving a wide array of treatment goals; from increased productivity to reduced drinking to improved communication skills. I practice CBT to assist clients in identifying and changing their unhelpful thinking styles, improving their awareness of their emotions, and practicing communication and coping skills.
Trauma Therapy has helped countless people achieve success in managing their trauma experiences. As a trauma-informed therapist, I always ensure clients they don't have to speak about their trauma before they're ready. Once a client feels ready, I hold a safe space for them to tell their story while we work together to change the narrative from one of a victim to a survivor.
