About My Clients

CBT and The Work incorporate the western medical model and the eastern spiritual model of health. This is 21st century therapy. The alchemy of CBT and The Work is that pain can be transmuted into peace and positive well being. In CBT and The Work we use awareness to look at our own mind and in so doing find a gentle way out of suffering. CBT and The Work can also be used as a preventative mental health resource.

My Background and Approach

Reassuring. Simple. Reassuring because it works. Simple because it is easy to understand. I use the techniques of Aaron T. Beck, MD (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and Byron Katie (The Work). I have a PhD from Yale University, MA from Columbia University and LCSW from University of Maine. I have both inpatient and outpatient experience. Some of the areas of life experience that I work with in my practice are the following: COVID19 and Environment Psychology, Living with Aspergers, Learning Differences, Spirituality, Adulting, Pain Management, Psychology of Eating, Conscious Uncoupling/Divorce, Movement is Medicine, Grief (including Pet loss), Wealth Psychology, Empty Nest, Aging, Death/Dying.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe each one of us has our own internal wisdom. In my practice, using CBT and The Work, I am collaborative. Each one of us has the same amount of wisdom. No one has more than any one else. Sometimes though we cannot access this wisdom and we need assistance. CBT and The Work provide that assistance. When we believe our stressful thoughts, simply because we did not know we did not have to, our internal wisdom can be hidden from us. When we identify our stressful thoughts, put them on paper, and question them (with CBT and The Work), we use cognitive flexibility which brings profound relief. We find our own wisdom. We find we are not our thoughts. We begin to have a relationship with our own mind.
