I can help you understand why these challenges are so difficult, and give you tools that will empower you to be the parent you want to be. As someone with an inside perspective, I help parents of children with special needs and/or mental health concerns who have greater demands stress than other parents. I get it and I can help.

When couples or families seem to have the same arguments and with little resolution, relationships get strained and a feeling of disconnection can become the norm. I help partners or family members get underneath these frustrating dynamics, learn skills, and make new choices in communications which can bridge disagreements and rebuild connection. I teach families how disagreements can actually bring you closer together.

I am honored to be part of vulnerable conversations where partners can be honest and authentic. When my clients get to this place, healing can happen. I know how great it can be to finally be able to say what needs to be said, even if you worry it's too hard. I guide partners to be real with each other with kindness and respect, to be self accountable, and to ask for what is needed. Couples I work with appreciate my straightforward, fearless, and gentle style.

Gottman's principles are part of the foundation of my work with couples. In particular, my clients find it helpful to learn and draw from Gottman strategies about connection and communication. They find it easy to understand and not very hard to incorporate, which empowers and provides hope to couples.

My clients would say my approach of Emotionally Focused Therapy is both challenging and rewarding. This method gently and steadfastly supports each partner in uncovering and sharing underlying feelings, and having the experience witnessed and received by the other partner. Often these are emotions that fuel anger, discontent, arguments and physical distancing that is so painful for couples. Giving them space helps to shift things, and points to tools on sustaining a new closeness.

Clients who work with me very quickly feel relaxed and confident that I will listen and understand each partner. They know I will not take sides and that their own experiences are valued and discussed. My clients feel supported and safe. This foundation allows us to be curious together, gain insights, and learn new ways of relating.
