I work with Empaths and highly sensitive people to harness their gifts to manage all of their life stuff with humor and grace.
Clinical Social Worker in Naperville, IL
I take a holistic approach to therapy in that I look at all of the elements of health including physical, financial, spiritual and social in addition to mental health. At times, this may also involve collaborating with other professionals that are working with you (with your permission). In addition to being a therapist, I'm also a Reiki practitioner. I can incorporate Reiki into sessions if my clients like and I can also teach them how to use Reiki for self-care.
I have done trainings on ACT, that help me to guide clients in using the principles of acceptance and commitment. ACT focuses on accepting that there will be challenges in life and then using your values to make committed action to respond in healthier ways. I work with clients on being more mentally flexible, which is a huge skill that can help with anxiety, depression and pretty much any life obstacle.
I have training in Sandtray through an online program called the Southern Sandtray Institute. I've also attended a Sandtray summit to get more hands on experience in sandtray. I have experience using sandtray with adults to help bring about deep change and healing. Sandtray helps clients use both parts of their brain, which can be especially helpful for grief and trauma. On top of this, sandtray can be a refreshing change to traditional talk therapy or when talking isn't working.
I have a lot of experience partnering with clients that have anxiety using mindfulness based approaches and approaches that look at how our thinking contributes to our overwhelm and the chaos in our lives. I also have some training in Exposure Therapy, which is useful for all different types of anxiety.
I enjoy working with clients around their spiritual needs and development. As a Reiki practitioner and someone that is personally interested in spirituality, I love walking beside people as they continue their spiritual growth. There is no right or wrong way to practice spirituality as long as it's benefiting you and not harming others. I also take a very grounded approach to spirituality and love working with people that are just starting to become interested in this aspect of their life.
I'm an HSP and have specialized training in how to engage with the HSP population in therapy. I help by teaching self-regulation skills and helping HSP's create boundaries and routines that work for them so that they can have more consistent energy throughout the day. I love helping HSP's be more in tune with their needs so that they can have the amazing life that they deserve. While I welcome anyone to work with me, my specialty is working with highly sensitive (HSP) women.
