About My Clients
Does your child constantly worry about their body or is struggling with dealing with their emotions? And as parents, we want to help them become confident individuals tapping into their full potential. I help teens and adolescents navigate their life through body changes, changes in friendships and relationships while building life skills and strengthening their toolkits. I believe in a holistic practice and therapy as a long term investment in our child.
My Background and Approach
I am guided by a wide variety of evidenced based approaches including CBT, Mindfulness, FBT (Family Based Treatment for Eating Disorder) and EMDR for trauma. I believe in creating a safe therapeutic environment in order to help the client process thoughts and feelings. I am warm and client-centered. Being multi-lingual and being exposed to different cultures, I am passionate about helping clients incorporate all the different cultures they are exposed to while helping them navigate through it by exploring their personal values and how culture has also contributed into shaping them as an individual. I believe in creating a non-judgemental space for clients to help provide them tools for change. I tailor the sessions based on clients needs with the aim of helping clients gain their full potential. I specialize in working with adolescents, young adults, families struggling with depression, anxiety, body image difficulties, phase of life issues.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that adolescence is a time where environment plays a huge role is how the teen is shaped which also affects the parent teen relationship. And parenting does not come with a guide book and I believe that each parent also has limited skills with parenting that often cause friction because as times change, parenting strategies need to be updated as well. In my experience, providing a safe space for the teen to express their thoughts and emotions gives them the opportunity to develop deeper insight into their lives rather than holding back the emotions. And by validating their emotions, I encourage them to be curious while developing healthy coping tools to be well adjusted members of the community. From my therapy experience, I believe that building trust with the therapist is a catalyst to change and hence I strongly side by the client therapist confidentiality.
