My Background and Approach
Samantha has been a Licensed Professional Counselor (License #74956) for the past nine (9) years. Samantha has a Bachelors of Science Degree in Psychology from Henderson State University and a Masters in Counseling with an emphasis in Rehabilitation Counseling/Mental Health from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock . Firstly, Samantha has been working in the field of counseling for over 17 years and has been employed with a Government Agency as a Licensed Professional Counselor for 14 years. Samantha has worked with clients with a number of mental health and physical disabilities; ranging from ages 5 until 70 years old. Samantha's experience also includes, working at several psychiatric facilities while performing the following tasks as an Inpatient therapist, Intake Clinician, Crisis therapist , Behavioral Specialist and Case manager. Samantha's utilizes Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) which is a type of psychotherapeutic treatment that helps people learn how to identify and change destructive or disturbing thought patterns that have a negative influence on behavior and emotions. Also, Samantha utilizes Solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) is a strength-based approach to psychotherapy based on solution-building rather than problem-solving. Unlike other forms of psychotherapy that focus on present problems and past causes, SFBT concentrates on how your current circumstances and future hopes. Samantha, is a dedicated therapist specializing in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Samantha approach is rooted in evidence-based practices aimed at treating personality disorders, mood disorders, and interpersonal conflicts. DBT is particularly effective for addressing mood disorders, suicidal ideation, and altering harmful behavioral patterns such as self-harm and substance use.
