About My Clients
I am a generalist and can work with most psychological issues and populations. However, the types of therapy that I practice, gestalt therapy and EMDR therapy, tend to be of most benefit to people who feel ready to gain a deeper level of self-understanding, willing to try movement or mindfulness exercises, and who are interested in moving beyond past trauma. I particularly love working with adults and teens who struggle with relationship issues, anxiety, depression, grief, identity, and trauma.
My Background and Approach
I graduated from Naropa University in 2021, where my counseling training focused on Mindfulness-based Transpersonal counseling. I worked with the LGBTQIA+ community in my clinical internship. I have received training in EMDR, EFT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Gestalt therapy. Rooting down in Gestalt therapy allows me to eclectically combine evidence-based methods with transpersonal, psychodynamic, and multicultural approaches so that I can support my clients from surface to depth, all while maintaining a fundamental respect for my clients' experiences and protecting client autonomy and freedom. My own experiences in therapy as a queer person with PTSD and ADHD also inform my understanding of trauma, identity, and neurodivergence, and allow me to be a stronger trauma therapist and to adapt therapy to diverse client needs. I am currently accepting clients through The Rainbow Circles in Fort Collins, and have paused accepting clients through my private practice Therapy with Sam.
