About My Clients
Do you find yourself struggling with feeling "good enough"? Are you often very critical with yourself or feel unable to trust yourself? Do you consistently find pelvic exams or pap smears to be painful? ? Do you find penetrative sex to be impossible, like "hitting a wall"? I understand the feelings of shame, guilt, embarrassment, pressure, and blame that can arise for people experiencing Vaginismus. I want to help you learn to trust yourself, experience pleasure, and minimize pain.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of IL. I take a client-centered approach that puts clients in the driver's seat as we explore patterns of behaviors and in relationships. I have specialized training in working with individuals that struggle with vaginismus in addition to perinatal and postpartum issues. I have background in working in a variety of settings from residential to outpatient counseling (individual and group) to assist my clients with a variety of mental health needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe suffering is a natural, normal part of human existence. However, I also believe we don't need to be stuck in suffering forever. I believe we show up as the best version of ourselves when we can really, truly be ourselves. Healing and growth can be intimidating because we're doing something new. I know what that feels like and honestly, sometimes it still can give me pause. When that happens, I like to lean on my loved ones and really lean into belting Broadway Showtunes (to each their own, right?!). I love to spend time cooking in my kitchen and believe in the importance of connecting to one's own culture. I do my best to stay engaged in anti-racism and anti-diet work and strive to be a great therapist, partner, and dog mom.
