About My Clients
You feel things intensely. You think deeply. Somewhere along the way, you may have gotten the message that this wasn't okay-- that you were too much, that you were too sensitive, that maybe you should feel guilty for having the feelings you do. What if you learned your sensitivity was a strength? Therapy can help to unlearn those messages and tap into the wisdom of your intuition, and it can heal the parts of you that might at times make it hard to connect to your inner strength.
My Background and Approach
I love working with women who are curious about themselves and looking to understand the deeper routes of their anxiety, self-doubt, and low self-esteem. Many of the clients I work with may label themselves as highly sensitive, those who feel things intensively and are often acutely aware of the feelings of others. I also have a special interest in complex and childhood trauma (those who were hurt, neglected, abused, or not loved properly as a child). Together we can work to notice, identify, and tap into your inner strengths. We will challenge messages you may have gotten growing up or as an adult that no longer serve you (such as you have to take care of others, you are too sensitive, or you don't belong). And we will help you develop greater self-compassion, so that you can take better care of yourself, do the things YOU want to do, set boundaries with others, and ultimately foster more joy and connection in your life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe you hold incredible strength inside of you. I believe you deserve to be understood and heard fully. If you don't feel that I am fully understanding your experience, I believe you have every right to tell me that. I believe that we all have the capacity for growth and both the right and the opportunity to receive love and care that we may have not gotten as children. I am queer affirming and am in support of racial justice.
