About My Clients
I find that I worst the best with clients who are truly motivated to change, are facing challenges in life, have tired many different things to help, and who are willing to do the work they need to overcome their issues. I am a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, and I love working with fellow members of our community. I frequently conduct psychological testing and forensic assessments for the legal system and individuals.
My Background and Approach
I see therapy as a process that offers a unique opportunity for transformation by helping people to slow down, explore, and develop a greater awareness of what is causing you problems in your life as well as what will help you heal and grow. As a therapist I strive to create a completely safe, judgment free, productive, and ethical space for my clients to learn and grow. Aspects of CBT, Person-Centered, Humanistic, and Existential therapeutic perspectives are frequently blended together and tailored to best fit individual client's needs. My goal is to help clients find peace, increased awareness, deeper understanding, and the skills they need to be successful in the future outside of therapy. No topic is ever taboo or off limits!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Let's get one thing out of the way. I am a real person - just like you, and I am not a stranger to therapy myself. I am a straight up, to the point, and no nonsense therapist. I believe in being honest with people even when it's difficult. This realness is what many clients tell me they like about working with me. I believe there is a lot of strength in sitting across from someone who "gets it" or has "been there" in their lives. This is why I am open about being LGBT and my own personal experience in therapy. I believe there is no subject that people shouldn't be able to talk about. I believe that I can learn the most from people who are different from me. I believe everyone has something to offer to others, their community, and the world.
