About My Clients

I am a psychiatrist, therapist, and addiction specialist with over 15 years of experience treating women with anxiety, addiction, relationship issues and trauma. If you have been suffering on your own, I want you to know that there is hope for relief. You don't have to do this on your own. You can do it in a safe space that is trauma informed, and held for you with love and acceptance. There is a future out there where you no longer feel weighed down, where you can feel content and thrive.

My Background and Approach

I focus on providing therapy, with integrated use of medications when needed. I received my medical degree from the Georgetown University School of Medicine. Following residency in psychiatry, I went on to obtain additional subspecialty training in psychotherapy. I am experienced in cognitive behavioral therapy (which teaches you to manage life’s challenges by changing the way you think and act), mindfulness based therapy (which increases your awareness of your thoughts, emotions, situation, and helps reduce stress responses), EMDR (which helps you understand and make peace with the past and traumas), and Islamically integrated psychotherapy (for patients who want to integrate psychological and spiritual well-being).

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe in providing a space that is culturally responsive and anti-racist. As a woman of color, a first generation immigrant, and a Muslim who struggled fully integrating my faith into my life in the West, I combine Eastern and Western philosophies in my practice of psychotherapy as well as medicine. The reality is that our physical, psychological and spiritual health are all integrated, and a good treatment modality needs to address that. It is why my patients see me doing thorough lab workups to assess underlying medical or nutritional issues that may be contributing to their issues, as well as addressing their lifestyle, nutritional health and belief systems when we work together in order to obtain the best results. I know it can be a daunting task to find a therapist and enter into the unknown. My website can address any questions you might have, and I offer secure video appointments, convenient online scheduling, and a free screening consultation: www.peacetreementalhealth.com
