About My Clients
I believe every patient has the right to be well cared for, treated gently and respectfully. Every therapy dynamic is unique and everyone who embarks on their journey deserves a therapist who supports them. It's important that your therapeutic process be treated as sacred as it will likely be one you hold forever. If you are suffering from symptoms (anxiety or depression), I have many tools that can provide relief while we look at the underlying conflicts that create long lasting change.
My Background and Approach
My approach is psychodynamic, which means that I specialize in listening for unconscious themes, fears, fantasies, and conflicts that often emerge consciously as relationship problems and suffering in all its forms. I encourage my patients to adopt a curious mindset when it comes to their thoughts, behaviors, and feelings because I find that it enables us to be pro-active (sidestepping judgments that lead to shame). I enjoy working with adults of all ages and have expertise in the special area of bereavement, trauma, and agoraphobia. Most sessions involve exploration of a theme or topic: life transitions, daily stressors, always with the intention of helping build a life of meaning and joy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Part of being an effective therapist is maintaining boundaries and so I don't insert my personal beliefs as I find this to be disrespectful of your time. It's important to me that you feel safe to discuss private matters, however. I encourage you to communicate as much as you are comfortable about your sexual life, political beliefs, and values. One of the pillars of my profession is cultural competency, which is why I strive to welcome all people, regardless of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, or politics.
