About My Clients

I enjoy working with diverse clients. I work really well with parents, especially pregnant and new moms and parents of young kids with difficult behavior. I enjoy working with anxiety, depression and trauma throughout the lifespan, as well as helping parents understand, connect with, and enjoy their children by reducing conflicts and defiance and improving communication and enjoyment in your relationships.

My Background and Approach

I am Board Certified in Couple and Family Psychology and have certifications in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (for preschool-age children with ADHD or noncompliance) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I have completed training by Postpartum Support International in perinatal mental health and the Institute for Creative Mindfulness in EMDR. My approach rests on a foundation of a compassionate and collaborative relationship upon which an evidence-based treatment plan is built specific to your goals and preferences. PCIT involves some parent-only didactic sessions but is mostly live coaching as you interact with your child at home or in my office to enjoy play together and improve the child’s social skills and behavior. Trauma work involves education, building relaxation and coping skills, examining negative beliefs that are impacting you, and gradually re-telling trauma memories to reduce their impact on your day-to-day life.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am a mom of two young girls and passionate about women’s mental health, prevention of child maltreatment, and caregiving that supports secure attachment. I volunteer as co-facilitator for a virtual postpartum support group via Texas Health and serve on the board of the Collin County Psychological Association, which supports our local child advocacy center. I also lead my oldest’s daughter’s Girl Scout troop, which is focused on service projects benefiting hospitalized children, the unhoused, and animal shelters. I am a progressive and social justice oriented, ecumenical Christian, involved in my church’s activities for children and moms. I am also an ally for LGBTQ+ folks and enjoy working with diverse clients, with a specific interest in immigrant families. I teach in a doctoral program in psychology and lead a group of students focused on working with Spanish-speakers.
