My Background and Approach
I am a certified sex therapist through the Sexual Health Alliance. I work through an attachment lens and incorporate aspects of Imago, Cognitive Behavioral, Narrative, and Feminist Theory into my work. I previously spent a year working at Respark in Austin as a couples and sex therapist, before opening my own practice. In my previous career, I worked as a writing professor with a focus on gender and sexuality at Columbia University, and continue to bring a lot of my knowledge from that time into my therapy work. I have also written on these subjects: https://www.mindbodygreen.com/wc/sara-sloan/page/1
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that relationships define each us and form the foundation for our life. Relationships, much like people, are unique and come in many different forms that should be equally honored. I work from a systemic perspective with couples, individuals, and families on ways to create relationships that define not only who we are, but also who we desire to become. I am an open-minded person, who is familiar with many traditional and nontraditional relationship styles, as well as how many different ways there are to exist happily in the world.
