About My Clients
We all have the capacity for healing and personal empowerment but life can get in the way! Relationships with others and sometimes with ourselves can also feel so complicated. If you've been struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, or the challenges of being part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community, I'm here to help you. I work with people age 15+ through a strength based lens to help them build insight, acceptance, and the courage to create a happier, more meaningful life.
My Background and Approach
Aside from my own experiences with mental health and sexuality, gender identity is an issue that is close to my heart. I've witnessed incredible resilience and strength of spirit while working in several different settings: from a women’s long term in-patient substance use center to a clinic for the greater community of those living with HIV, I've seen incredible triumphs of bravery, growth, and transformation. These settings allowed me to work with my clinical passions of trauma and the LGBTQIA2S+ population, specifically gender. Additionally, I also work well with depression, anxiety, women's issues, life changes, relationships, infectious disease, and systemic oppression. I’m a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and trained in an intensive 12 week trauma treatment program, which regularly creates lasting change for clients. I also trained under a supervisor for 3 years who is a gender specialist with lived experience, which substantially added to the quality of my training.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Authentic connection with clients is the foundation of my work. I am regularly inspired by my clients and humbled to bare witness to their stories, lives, and hearts. Being truly known takes a ton of courage and trust to open up and share our deepest selves. I honor this by consistently creating a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space for us to explore. Often times there are outside influences that contribute to our distress. Social systems that perpetuate poverty/racism/ableism/hate towards us in the diverse sexual and gender community directly impact our mental health. These systems provide a framework that elevate others while oppressing those in the margins. My hopes are that our work together can not only help you heal from whatever is harming you in your own life, but empower you to step into your community to help create a more just society, if even in small ways. I look forward to getting to know you and our work together, wherever you are in your healing journey.
