About My Clients
There is no one size fits all when it comes to describing my clients. I have worked with ages 11 through 80, and my clients may present with depression, anxiety, disordered eating, questions around identity, relational issues, and general mood disturbances.
My Background and Approach
During my time in graduate school, I have worked at New York Presbyterian's eating disorders unit, as well as NYU's Center for Counseling and Community Wellbeing. I've worked with clients of all ages, ethnicities, and presenting problems. I work collaboratively with my clients to create a space that works for them, utilizing compassion-based cognitive behavioral therapies, as well as components of dialectical behavior therapy, to help clients tolerate difficult emotions, gain insight to their experiences and symptoms, and reduce negative thoughts. I like to explore values and motivations, create a 'tool-belt' of skills to get through difficult times, and see how compassion can lead to growth.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a Health at Every Size Aligned therapist, meaning I believe an individual can be healthy and healed with any body shape or weight. I generally operate from an anti-diet, intuitive eating approach, and help clients to unlearn diet culture's rules. Further, I believe that therapy is built on trust, connection, and empathy. I strive to make therapy a warm, safe, and sometimes even fun space. I am an active supporter of LGBTQIA+ initiatives, anti-racist movements, and women's reproductive rights. I will always fight to ensure all of my clients have the resources they need.
