About My Clients

I specialize in working with anxiety, depression, and relationship problems and find that many people who come to me are high-functioning, creative individuals who struggle with perfectionism, enough-ness, and other self-limiting beliefs. I also specialize in working with people with bicultural or multicultural backgrounds, helping validate what can often feel like an invisible experience and unpacking the impact of immigration, acculturation, or the pressure to belong.

My Background and Approach

Hi! I’m Sarah. I’m a Bay Area-based psychotherapist specializing in trauma-informed, culturally sensitive therapy for individuals, couples, families, and adolescents. I believe we all have the inner capacity to heal and I see my job not as healer but as a human being cultivating a space for you to find the healer within yourself. My training is in relational, depth psychotherapy, somatic therapy, humanistic existential psychotherapy, Gestalt, attachment-based therapy, mindfulness, but I also like to draw from my own experience of being human. My multicultural background and experiences living abroad have helped me both feel at ease with people from all walks of life and hold a deep respect for difference. In therapy, I hope to establish an environment that is down-to-earth, mindful, and warm and use compassion, humor, and presence to sit with and transform the darker sides of life.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe we are all works in progress and that our paths toward healing are best done when we're not alone. Therapy can offer a set of tools to relieve stress, but it can also offer so much more. At its core, it is an opportunity to examine our subjectivity and its roots, and find our way into a life of meaning, resilience, and empowerment. As a client, therapy helped me find a way back to myself when family, community, institutions, and social systems had gotten in the way. By observing my thoughts, feelings, and inner dialogue, I started to learn how to do this whole life thing with a bit more ease and self-compassion. I hope I can offer the same to you.
