Psychodynamic therapy is the birthplace of therapy, and where the foundational - and often forgotten about - elements of therapy lie. It starts with the power of the unconscious, and how it shapes every aspect of our life and behavior. When we can shine a light on the depths of our unconscious beliefs, patterns, and expectations, change happens at the deepest level possible. This means the work you do in therapy is yours to keep for a lifetime.
Somatic therapy focuses on the intersection of mind and body. Our thoughts and feelings reside in our bodies. When a trauma occurs, these experiences are held in the body, and need help moving through us in order to restore mental health. In somatic work, we explore where in the body you notice sensation, and how to bring relief through breathwork and movement.
Trauma is multi-dimensional and often impacts your relationships, body, emotions and ability to function. Trauma therapy addresses each of these domains, with special attention paid to the "stuck in the on-position" threat response in the body and the relational nature of many traumas.
