About My Clients

Are you a First Responder or law professional whose job is having a profound impact on you and your loved ones? Are you family to a LEO, firefighter, EMT, military member, correctional officer, or any other critical incident responder? Have certain life events caused difficulties in coping? Are you finding that keeping yourself busy and distracted is how you deal with stress and triggers? Have you found that what helped before is now causing issues for you, such as drugs/alcohol?

My Background and Approach

I have over 14 years of experience working in the mental health field, having graduated in 2005 with a Master’s in Forensic Psychology. As a Board Certified Licensed Professional Counselor, a Certified First Responder Counselor, a Licensed Addictions Counselor and a Certified Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist I have the knowledge and tools to help meet your needs. I offer a variety of evidence-based, therapeutic approaches to help reduce symptoms of occupational stress injuries and reactions, learn coping skills and build resilience. Each approach is tailored based on a collaborative, strengths-based fit to match the needs, goals and performance of the individual. I am also trained in a variety of approaches (DBT, CBT, IFS, MI, SFBT) to cope with symptoms and increase overall life performance. As a Certified First Responder Counselor and the wife of an LEO I will "get" you and how the job can take a toll.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am passionate about working with Responders, their loved ones, all legal professionals (dispatchers, CoResponders, crime scene technicians, probation/parole officers, etc) and all survivors of trauma; be it vicarious, indirect or direct. She is the wife of a law enforcement officer and has worked alongside deputies at a county jail earlier in her career. Sarah enjoys leading trainings, facilitating groups and providing consultation to help reduce the impact of cumulative stress injuries and improve awareness of post traumatic stress, while helping to build resilience. Sarah also provides supervision to clinicians working toward Addiction Certification, Professional Counselor Licensure and/or EMDR certification. If you were to ask others about Sarah, you would likely hear that she is honest, authentic, comical and displays true grit in both her personal and professional life.
