About My Clients
I work clients experiencing: trauma, complex trauma, depression, anxiety, spiritual and religious concerns, change of life issues, maternal mental health concerns (infertility, loss, transitions), addiction, and dysfunctional patterns in relationships. Many of my clients have experienced multiple or ongoing trauma and find themselves struggling to regulate their emotions and have fulfilling relationships. Some have been labeled "difficult" or "crazy." Most feel unheard and misunderstood.
My Background and Approach
I have specialized training in attachment, complex trauma, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and theology. I work from a place of non-judgment and often use humor and relevant culture/art.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am especially passionate about removing the stigma of seeking mental health services, especially for people of color and those in the Church who have been prescribed prayer. In these groups, I work with clients to identify the assumptions of the dominant culture and how they may be hindering help-seeking. I encourage people to wrestle with their beliefs about themselves, their suffering, the world, and their theology to help them develop a stronger, more rich engagement with their lives.
