About My Clients
I specialize in working with survivors of interpersonal trauma, such as childhood abuse and neglect, intimate partner violence, and sexual abuse/assault, and adult children of alcoholics and dysfunctional families. I am also a sex-positive, LGBTQIA+ affirmative, polyamory-friendly and kink-informed therapist, and I'm passionate about helping clients with issues regarding sexuality and sexual identity.
My Background and Approach
My approach to therapy is integrative, collaborative, and empowerment-focused. I draw from several schools of thought in my practice, but all of them place great importance on the therapeutic relationship: on forming an authentic connection with you, helping you create a sense of safety, and allowing you to feel seen and understood. I incorporate several therapeutic approaches into my work, including emotion-focused therapy, feminist therapy, and mindfulness techniques. I am trained in Attachment-Focused EMDR and somatic therapy (Trauma Resiliency Model), which are both therapeutic modalities designed to access the mind-body connection in processing and releasing trauma. I use these approaches in my work with clients to achieve meaningful and long-lasting relief from distress.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that all people possess deep inner resources of strength and wisdom, and are capable of overcoming even the most overwhelming circumstances. I feel honored to walk alongside my clients on their journey towards health and wholeness. I believe that all people deserve to work with a therapist who understands their identity and struggles without fear of stigmatization or judgment. I believe that people are the experts on their own lives. If you want to learn more about me and how I work, please visit my website, or contact me to schedule a free phone consultation.
