About My Clients
I work with teens, 16 and older, and men of color who feel overwhelmed by trying to navigate significant changes in their life or career. We work towards building insight, and gaining emotional and mental control and confidence so that they can become the people they want to be in their own lives. Therapy can help boys and men overcome feelings of anxiety and depression or deal with trauma and loss so that they can experience healthier peer and interpersonal relationships.
My Background and Approach
My experience includes working with children and adolescents, mentoring, and group facilitation. I have developed and led community-based initiatives and programs focused on addressing marginalized communities' social and emotional needs throughout my career which led me to pursue my degree in social work. I focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship and meeting clients where they are at. I use an eclectic approach, including motivational interviewing, to engage my clients and collaborate with them, to help them reach their personal goals.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I spent the first part of my career working in community-based organizations working with youth and adults who are often underserved and underrepresented. I understand the need for support in a person's life and that has led me throughout my career journey. I am a purpose-driven career changer who utilizes both my graduate school teaching with the skills I gained throughout my nine-year career in community work and Human Resources.
