About My Clients
Do you feel that the path you are on is not leading you to where you want to go? Do you feel misunderstood in your relationship? Is it difficult to explain why you feel the way you do? Do you struggle with the loss of a loved one due to immigration difficulties? Do you feel your children don't understand their roots? Living in a new and different culture and community can be very difficult for families, especially children living in both worlds. I would be honored to join you on your journey.
My Background and Approach
My experience living in and working with the Latino community has allowed me a unique perspective and a great deal of experience helping others. I use a very eclectic approach with clients including CBT, Solution Focused, other theories that work best depending on the needs of each individual. I specialize in working with individuals experiencing anxiety or the effects of trauma. I have many years of experience working with victims of crime and their families including survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse. I also have experience working with first responders and their families dealing with the effects of their professions and helping them find purpose and meaning in their work again. I was born and raised in rural Wisconsin and now make my home in suburban Chicago. My husband emigrated from Mexico and we have two grown sons raised in a bilingual and bicultural home.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe we all have the capacity and right to to live our lives the best we can. Sometimes our beginnings did not provide us with the safety and security we needed and I believe that we sometimes we have to build that soft place to land for ourselves. I am passionate and dedicated to the wonderful diversity of our world and feel privileged to be able to support all who work toward a more just and equal society. I work with all seeking support, no matter who you are, who you love, where you come from and where you want to go. I would be humbled to support you in your journey.
