About My Clients
Does daily life feel harder than it should be? Feelings like anxiety, sadness, emptiness, and pain begin to feel like a part of you and you may start to question if they will always weigh you down. Or maybe you turn to food or social media to help yourself to feel better and you only end up feeling worse? By teaching skills to manage the negative thoughts and guiding you in rediscovering who you are outside of these negative feelings, I can help you refocus on what is important and fulfilling.
My Background and Approach
I combine practical strategies from my background and training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy with a healing and restorative relationship where I listen and accept you exactly where you are. From our first contact, I will partner with you to provide quality care that meets your individual needs. Together we look at the patterns that keep you stuck, look at where these patterns came from (usually they are a way that at one point helped you to survive), and work together to find new patterns better fitting your hopes, goals, and who you are now. Training highlights: Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Image Transformation Therapy (ImTT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), attachment theory and Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Postpartum Support International’s Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders Certificate course.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Therapy works! I am a recovering perfectionist and people pleaser, so I know what it is like to get stuck into patterns. I have learned that these patterns developed out of finding my way as a child, adolescent and young adult. However, the older I got, the more I saw how these patterns were causing dissatisfaction, stress, and missed opportunities. Through my own therapy I have seen major progress in stepping out of these patterns and have found that this change while scary at times, is definitely worth it. While I know (and definitely do not assume) that your experience is just like mine, I do want you to experience that fulfillment and freedom that comes from being able to respond to your emotions rather than having them control you.
