About My Clients
I welcome all women, teens and their families to partake in the process of forgiveness, healing and restoration. The office is designed to address the specific struggles of African American and other minority groups coping with depression, anxiety, self-harm, transitional life stress and mood disorders.
My Background and Approach
The majority of my service has been with children/teens/tweens at risk of out of home placement, already in group homes/foster care or under the protective supervision of the department of children and family services. I have also engaged the maternal depression population and adults with severe dual diagnosis'. I am most comfortable with providing a trauma-informed, cognitive-behavioral approach while using cognitive processing, mindfulness, and interpersonal theory techniques as I take on the role of becoming your accountability partner throughout your journey.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a strong advocate for the position that education and emotional wellness is the key to success and power. You have to become the change that you want to see. What is the root cause of your frustrations? Knowing the cause leads to effectively creating new coping habits and appropriate emotional responses to stress. Challenging unhealthy concepts of self, unjust and oppressive policies that perpetuate poverty, and limits that others project onto you to maintain the "status quo" is the way to address effective change. I believe all deserve the opportunities and promises that our country was built on: equality, justice and the pursuit of happiness.
