I specialize in working with individuals who are at any stage of the perinatal period, and on throughout the lifespan of motherhood. My work with individuals in the earlier stages of the parenthood lifespan includes those who are even in a contemplation phase. I am trained in Perinatal Mental Health and enjoy supporting perinatal individuals through the often overwhelming journey of pregnancy and caring for young children.
My work with children and adolescents often focuses on challenges with transitions due to reasons such as a change in school or family structure or a family member's medical diagnosis. Parents often find it challenging to explain these complex topics to children even though they know it's essential for their child's wellbeing. I collaborate with children and parents to strengthen the child's ability to increase regulation and bolster their communication skills.
I support caregivers so they can support their children. Common parenting challenges I work with include difficulties in areas such as boundary setting, connecting to children, managing multiple children of varied ages and abilities, communicating clearly and effectively with children, and finding time to bond with children. Collaborating on working through these challenges with me can create a more peaceful home environment and harmonious family dynamic.
My career has been based on attachment theory and the importance of understanding the nature and history of our attachments in order to identify patterns of behavior. Underlying my eclectic approach to providing psychotherapy is my focus on attachment theory.
