About My Clients
I work with teens and young adults who are struggling in relationships from past trauma. They’re trying to learn how to develop and feel comfortable in healthy relationships with the help of boundary setting and positive communication skills. Having had my own experience with this (which is going to be different from yours,) I know the value of figuring out how to be in fulfilling relationships that you deserve.
My Background and Approach
My therapy approach is collaborative and client centered. I believe the relationship between my client and I is the foundation for all healing. I tend to use humor, because while therapy can be intense, I believe the road to feeling whole again can be fun at times too. I rely on my experience of over 6 years working with teens and young adults to support my clients in having happier, healthier relationships in their life. I am also trained in EMDR, which is a highly researched trauma therapy that can be used to reduce anxiety, phobias and feeling tense.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am firm believer that we can all grow and change whenever we want to. I am a glass half full optimist and use this to support client's who feel their glass is 100% empty. Mental health should be monitored like all other medical appointments and stigma is left at the door in my office. I first started my own therapy when I was 18, which is why I hold a special place in my heart for teens and young adults. It is a confusing time and society pressures us to "have it all figured out"... whatever that means. My approach with clients is non judgmental with a huge dose of curiosity. I don't discriminate against anyone. I make it a point to participate in marches and community actions that support the LGBTQ community.
