About My Clients

You've tried to be strong your whole life and you've carried the weight of the world and everyone else's problems. You've been able to push through some really big hurdles for yourself and are always trying to improve. But right now? Right now is too much. Whether it's because your body and mind are breaking down and telling you it's too much, or you're finally just tired of it all, one thing is clear: you're done doing this alone and you want support.

My Background and Approach

Whether it's one big crisis and trauma or the layers of traumas that accumulate over time, that's my jam. Along with extensive ongoing training and learning in the area of trauma, I hold Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and a Masters in Psychology with a focus in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have conducted research on how internalizing oppressive systemic ideals contributes to people's sense of self and interaction with others. Ultimately, I love learning new things all the time. I also love sharing those new things, so if and when I learn something interesting and maybe applicable to what you're working through, I'll bring it up and we can explore the idea (or throw it out if it was a miss!). I'm a fan of many different therapeutic approaches and will draw tools from each into a very real conversation we'll have together, as two real people focused on what you want from life.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I've thought of life for a long time as one long transition, a space where we can constantly grow and improve even if there was nothing necessarily wrong with where we were before. I think whatever internal snags people struggle with are brilliant adaptations to earlier challenges and don't need to be pathologized, even if we still want to find new ways of being now and in the future. I'm multicultural and queer-ish? and am potentially overly cautious about claiming membership in groups I may actually belong to. I don't know that I've ever felt I've "belonged" or found "home" in the many places I've been, so I've worked instead to build an internal sense of belonging and home. I support social, racial, religious, sexual, gender justice and take particular interest in restorative and transformative justice rather than punitive systems. The more I learn the more I realize I don't know, so the only option for me is to keep learning.
