My Background and Approach

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (MSW and LCSW), Susan has worked with women and their families around issues of pregnancy, birth and parenting since 1987. Susan counsels individuals and couples on many issues. She has in-depth experience in the areas of women and children's health including pregnancy, birth, postpartum and parenting issues as well as pediatric health concerns -- illness, palliative and hospice care. She has led parenting groups that focus on new motherhood as well as bereavement groups for parents. Susan has post-graduate training in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, bereavement and end of life care/counseling. Susan believes in making it easy to engage in counseling. She offers in-home visits, in-office visits or on-line appointments through a HIPAA-compliant platform. Susan looks forward to connecting with potential clients to discuss their needs.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Pregnancy & Birth: Pregnancy and birth are normal, natural and healthy processes. The knowledge of how to birth exists within every woman and therefore, we seek to instill in the mother confidence in her innate ability to give birth. Babies and Attachment: Babies are unique individuals who come into this world with a profound physical and spiritual connection to their mothers, which should be nurtured. We strive to facilitate attachment and foster this bond, insuring that a baby’s needs are met. Parenting: We believe in providing women and their partners the information necessary to make educated choices regarding pregnancy, labor, birth and parenting. Women and men have an intuitive ability to nurture. The new mother and father are encouraged as they develop the confidence necessary to tap into these innate gifts and care for their child.
