About My Clients
Have your relationships to parents or significant others wounded you? Are there specific traumas that are haunting you? Could your self-image use some compassion and tenderness? Join me in safely revisiting and processing harmful experiences that are getting in the way of living with openheartedness toward others and yourself. Therapy with me will equip you with tools to relearn self-trust, manage anxiety, set firm boundaries, and understand parts of you that developed out of survival.
My Background and Approach
I am passionate about using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to treat various forms of trauma, including childhood trauma and identity-based trauma. I offer body-mind-focused psychotherapy, as the body houses traumatic stress and the mind is where we hold damaging memories and belief systems. While our work will be co-created, it may include: talk therapy, memory reprocessing, breath work, art, and feeling into sensations in your body.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I view the mind, body and spirit as interconnected and equally important parts of our being. At our core, I believe that we are magical and that psychological and physical harm — whether interpersonal, generational or systemic — pulls us away from our divine center. I believe that bodily hierarchies and systems that uphold them are often the root of human suffering and ongoing wounding. Therefore, I see the body as the primary site of traumatic injury and I work to divest from systemic oppression in the therapeutic setting. I instead operate from an anti-racist, anti-carceral, womanist, queer and sex affirming lens and I incorporate somatic techniques in the healing process. Additionally, I believe that trust in the therapeutic relationship is foundational to healing so I continually work to foster an environment that invites curiosity, authenticity and compassion. My practice is grounded in my lived experience as a biracial Black woman.
