I sometimes wish we were born with our own "how to care for your human" manuals, but we weren't, and many of us have to learn along the way.

About My Clients

Thinking "Hey, maybe I could use therapy," is pivotal. Usually it's pain, suffering, confusion, difficult emotions, and things just not going right that bring us to therapy. AND although it can feel otherwise, there's no shame in needing or wanting support, or participating in therapy. My hope is that therapy helps you experience greater self-acceptance, compassion, and ease with yourself and your life - it's a worthy and doable endeavor.

My Background and Approach

My counseling style is warm, interactive, and authentic -- I love and believe in good therapy. I deeply believe in people treating each other with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. My perspective is that you are the expert on your life and my role as your therapist is to be your advocate, ally, and confidant. When it's appropriate I will offer guidance, insights, and my perspective for you to consider. Other times I get that what's most important is to feel seen, heard, and understood. My approach often includes what's known as "talk therapy," including cognitive behavioral, mindfulness, compassion, and insight-oriented practices. I also offer EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, and polyvagal-based care. And with each approach, the goal is to attend to your identified needs. Although it's often difficult emotions and experiences that propel people to seek therapy in the first place, once we get started you may also be surprised to find a place for humor and laughter in our sessions.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am a feminist, believe all bodies are good bodies, and am a HAES advocate. I am anti-racist, affirming of all genders and sexual expressions, and do not tolerate bullies. I believe normal is a lie, that our narratives can help us and hurt us, and that our emotional lives and felt experiences of living hold the key to health, healing, and thriving.

I offer online counseling in the following states:
