My Background and Approach
I have received extensive training in several evidence based practice models and use insight-oriented techniques and components of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to assist individuals with reducing stress, regulating emotions, problem solving, improving relationships and making changes that lead to significant progress and transformation in one’s life. I utilize a variety of skills, tools and techniques in my practice based on individuals’ needs, wants, personalities and preferences. I use the strength based, person centered approach and assist individuals in empowering themselves and recognizing their unique strengths and skills in order to gain confidence in the process of healing, growth and recovery. I place high importance on developing a relationship and trust with clients and have 19 years of experience in assisting individuals with managing stress, coping with life transitions, anxiety, depression, grief and improving self-esteem, relationships and overall quality of life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have a passion for emotional wellness, self-discovery, empowerment and social justice. I believe that each person has the right to choose and defend their own beliefs, identity and life. Investing in yourself can be the most rewarding process one can experience because personal growth leads to improvement in all areas of life. Humans are imperfect, flawed, unique and beautiful and their capacity is limitless. I have experienced a fair amount of trauma and pain growing up in war-torn Bosnia and have learned that the other side of these life altering experiences can be filled with resilience, positivity and joy. I believe that the key elements of healing are establishing a therapeutic relationship based on safety and trust, enhancing self-awareness, exploring limiting beliefs and behaviors, learning new skills, and making appropriate changes. I support the LGBTQIA2S+ community, the BLM movement and welcome all humans to my practice. I offer services in CA, TX, MO and WA.
