About My Clients
As a queer Asian woman, I know how difficult it is to find a therapist who just gets you and doesn’t give you the burden of educating them about your already marginalized culture. I’m here to make that process a little easier for you and your loved ones. I work with couples and individuals who come from LGBTQIA+ and/or Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities, especially those who ar exploring their intersectional identities, such as their culture, race, queerness and religion.
My Background and Approach
I see the problem as outside people not within them. This helps me see the contexts in which couples and families experience the issues and helps them learn how to see the problems they are facing in their unique contexts. Couples and families can find out what solutions to the problems can be because the goal is not to fix the people in the relationship but to fix the broken cycle that is not working for them. I weave social justice into the fabric of my work with my clients where I help clients take stance on the problems they are facing and empower them to choose their own paths to move forward.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My experience as a queer person growing up in East Asia has led me to help Asian and queer couples and families. Being in queer relationships can be quite lonely due to the lack of support from families. Being a queer person in a family that does not understand the importance of your queer identity can be quite suffocating. I'm here to help queer and Asian families and couples courageously express their desires and start listening with a caring heart.
