Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a classic talk therapy technique that helps increase awareness of negative thinking in order to better handle challenging situations. In addition to helping those with mental health disorders (such as anxiety or depression), CBT is also helpful for anyone who is looking to learn how to manage stressful situations. Therapists that use CBT often have a structured program, which involves a set number of sessions. CBT is frequently paired with other treatments, such as medication, when necessary. Sometimes we have faced issues like depression, anxiety, or difficult and unfulfilling relationships our whole lives, other times problems seem to come out of nowhere and knock us right off our feet. One thing I do know, is that we should not go through hard things alone. I walk alongside my patients as they navigate the difficult healing from trauma, learning who they are in this world, or find meaning in the mess. I look forward to walking with you as you start taking back your life.

Being human is often tough. Sometimes we lose our way and can feel stuck and overwhelmed. Sometimes we would like to change parts of our lives or ourselves but don’t know how. Therapy can be an empowering way to promote healing, growth, and wellness. Often, we initially seek treatment to address a specific concern and then begin to uncover other areas of our lives in which we want to make meaningful change. My goal is for this process to feel supportive, affirming, and appropriately challenging.
