Martine JonesPsychologist, Psy.D.
Thank you for visiting! I am currently accepting new clients for online (video) and phone therapy.
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) relies on a client's own rapid, rhythmic eye movements, and is founded on the belief that these eye movements can weaken the intensity of emotionally charged memories. EMDR is most often used to treat PTSD or other traumas, but is also sometimes used for panic attacks, eating disorders, addictions, and anxiety. EMDR sessions can last up to 90 minutes, and usually starts with a client rating their level of distress. A therapist then typically moves their fingers in front of your face (or sometimes toe tapping or musical tones), asking you to follow along with your eyes, while you recall a traumatic event and all the sensations that come with it. You will gradually be guided by the therapist to shift thoughts from the traumatic experience to a more comforting one. The goal of EMDR is to make disturbing memories less immobilizing. Think this approach might be right for you? Reach out to one of TherapyDen’s EMDR specialists today.
You know your trauma story backwards and forwards. You know it's the reason you struggle with anxiety, depression, and why your relationships aren't where you want them to be. You're tired of being on edge all the time, feeling hopeless, alone, being caught up in negative thought cycles, and being STUCK. You've tried self-help books, thinking positive thoughts, maybe even a little meditating but nothing has worked. You are D-O-N-E with doing it on your own. You're ready to try something new.
I work well with anxious women with big hearts who are drained from the constant people-pleasing and perfectionism. Your big heart leaves you putting everyone first but yourself. The constant overthinking, self-doubt, and not feeling good enough is overwhelming. You are finally ready to put yourself first by learning how to manage your anxiety and start building your self-worth.
Do you feel anxious, stressed and overwhelmed? Feeling the need for extra support and coping skills? I am dedicated to helping individuals who seek personal growth and development, healing from painful feelings and memories, and coping with anxiety, perfectionism and difficult life changes. I provide a warm, welcoming environment for you to feel safe to explore your thoughts and feelings and learn tools and strategies to help you boost your self-esteem, improve relationships and achieve change.
