I specialize in working with adults and older adults who are experiencing depression, anxiety, and/or going through life transitions - whether that's career, relationship, or restarting your life. Having worked in the healthcare setting, I am well versed in working with healthcare professionals navigating burnout. I enjoy working with individuals within the LGBTQIA+ community and individuals practicing/exploring non-traditional relationships (e.g., ethical non-monogamy, kink)
As a provider, I am attuned to your uniqueness and wholeness as we work in service to you and your life journey. Whether you are seeking support for current patterns and struggles, history, or future goals I am here to support your counseling and healing journey. My counseling work is strengths-based, humanistic, transpersonal, somatic, and existential. My role as a holistic counselor blends my many years of experience in the healing arts and sciences in service to your therapeutic goals.
Do you work really hard to pretend you're okay? Are you scared to admit how lonely you feel, even to those closest to you? What if everyone knew how sad, unhappy and worried you feel? Are you flooded by thoughts of what could go wrong, even during "good" times? No matter how hard you try to distract yourself with social media, shopping or TV, anxious thoughts and dread for the day to come bombard you when you try to sleep. These issues impact our relationships with others and especially ourselves.
You or your loved one have a big life transition and know that you could use extra support for a career change, divorce, new school, developmental milestone, traumatic event, or death of a loved one. You want someone who understands how hard it is to be a supervisor, parent, partner, activist, organizer, creative, technical lead, project manager, navigating today's world. You want a co-pilot while you're in the driver's seat with individual actions, family change, and or system's change.
When you look at your life, part of you thinks you should be happy and satisfied but the truth is you feel lost. Life doesn’t feel the way you thought it would and you wonder if this is just how things are always going to be. Even if you don’t know exactly what is wrong, you know something needs to change. Whether you’re going through a major transition, struggling with relationships, or just feeling stuck, you want things to get better...and keeping a gratitude journal just isn't cutting it.

I work with clients who feel depressed, anxious, overwhelmed, or maybe they’re not even sure what they’re feeling but they know something’s deeply wrong or missing in their lives. Others are experiencing a bumpy transition or feel confused, stuck or unhappy about their relationships, their career, their future. We'll work together to help you access your innate strengths and understand, work through and change ways of being that no longer serve you to enhance your well-being and quality of life.
You are here because you're looking for help - stress, anxiety, depression, life's transitions, or just a final attempt to “make it better.” I am here to sit with you, hear your story, and look at what is weighing you down. While I work best with those who lead with openness, curiosity and a true desire for personal growth, I also recognize folx show up in different places in life's emotional experience. Therapy is a journey back to a place of hope and belonging, and it is my honor to join you.
My clients often come to me feeling anxious, burned out and overwhelmed, trying to cope with relationship issues and past trauma such as abuse, and dealing with anxiety, parenting and pregnancy related challenges. They are exhausted and feel like they can't find a way out of the constant spiral. The holistic, client centered techniques I use help guide my clients to reduce stress and help them to finally heal from those past hurts, so they can finally have peace, joy, and harmony in their life.
My work focuses on marriage and couples therapy, specifically centered on infidelity repair, communication issues, couples in crisis, relationships on the brink, and those experiencing a range of frustrations and challenges with physical intimacy. I have been featured in Forbes, the Knot, and other leading media outlets offering my insight into relationships and communication. I would love to meet with you about your unique circumstances and how I might be able to help.
You deserve to be a priority in your own life. Most of my clients have a history of surviving trauma, neglect, and relational harm; this can lead to becoming stuck in survival mode which often times conflicts with living mode. I work primarily with neurodivergent and LGBTQIA2S folks who are ready to approach their struggles in a new way. We can work together to restore your sense of self and your ability to direct your life on your terms to achieve your goals!

You are stuck in relationship patterns that have you feel disappointment and/or overwhelmed? Are you the person that your life looks good on paper and yet the felt sense is not as enjoyable? You are rational AND a bit on the WooWoo side of things and want to integrate these parts of yourself? Do you have anxiety that keeps you frozen so you can not make a decision?
One of the most important parts of the therapy process is the connection that is made between the client and the clinician. My accepting, client-centered approach makes it easy for you to discuss your immediate situation and deeper issues. I am passionate about working within the LGBTQIA community to assist clients in building the secure and satisfying life that they desire. You're the expert on you, let me provide the safe space for you to explore change and to find the future that you desire.
ALL bodies are good bodies. But we don’t get to this place of body acceptance overnight. Right now you may be tired of feeling uncomfortable in your own skin. You compare your body to others, and your sense of confidence feels hopelessly tied up in your body dissatisfaction. This struggle against your body’s shape, size, or appearance is controlling your life, taking up mental energy, and is freakin’ lonely. And you’re beginning to fear your body anxiety is actually getting worse, not better.
IMPORTANT NOTE: I am accepting new clients if consultation proves a good match; OOP or Premera preferred. I am also taking new clients as a trauma writing mentor/editor and more. Writing your way through healing, in my view, is at least of equal value to psychotherapy. If you are interested in these services, please visit me at www.elihastings.com). I would be DELIGHTED to work in tandem with other therapists! Ideal clients are folks w CPTSD but normative or high functioning. My
