The context of an individual’s life will affect their racial and ethnic identity development. I believe by exploring the various aspects that contribute to that context including upbringing and belief systems help us to formulate thoughts and perspectives that might impact the ethnic identity development process immensely. My role as a clinician is to help clients explore this part of themselves and foster a crucial understanding of who they are and how it shapes them.
Grief is a complex part of humanity. In cultures of all kinds, it is understood in different ways which can be scary or also very heartbreaking.
