About My Clients
Do you find yourself feeling disconnected from yourself or others? Are you stuck in unhealthy behaviors or relationships either people-please or putting up walls? Do you shift between addictive behaviors and want to get to the root of it? I trust that you know how you want to feel though it does not always translating to feeling that way. If you feel stuck and wonder what is underneath and want to be more present in your life I am the therapist for you.
My Background and Approach
I noticed in my work, and my life, that cognitive strategies are useful but sometimes have a limit. Through my training with Somatic Experiencing International I incorporate body awareness to heal traumas. I integrate existential, mindful, and cognitive strategies as appropriate. I can help get you unstuck through illuminating the way out of these dark places tapping into your own strength and creativity. My counseling approach is authentic to how I live: I show up with a warm and accepting attitude - and a good dose of curiosity and humor - to learn about you and explore the possibilities in your life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As Yalom purported, "Authenticity is synonymous with mental health." I strive to be authentic not only with others but also with myself. In the therapy office, I value humor, spontaneity and creativity. I find when others can articulate their values and their needs they can start to live them out with integrity. I am an active member of my church serving in various capacities based on my season in life. I am an avid runner having run two marathons with a goal of running a third. I am also married and have three young children. I value being in community and finding ways to support and be supported based on the different giftings that each individual brings.
