CBT is a huge umbrella that encompasses lots of different treatment modalities. The beauty of CBT it that it is basically a framework that you can fill with your own belief system. CBT includes modalities such as Exposure Therapy, Prolonged Exposure for PTSD, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), modalities in which I have received extensive training.
As a bicultural immigrant woman, I am highly aware of the role each client's culture plays in their understanding of the world. I work from an intersectional perspective that permeates every aspect of the therapeutic relationship. I'd be happy to chat with clients about what this would mean to our work together.
Exposure therapy is considered the gold standard, evidence-based modality to *treat* and not just manage anxiety and anxiety-related disorders such as OCD. In a nutshell, it is a behavioral intervention where client and therapist create a plan to approach situations that have been avoided due to anxiety-provoking fears, from situations such as changing careers to speaking in public. I'd be happy to connect with you and share more about this highly effective treatment modality.
