About My Clients
In-person sessions offered. Whatever the hurts, heartaches, quandaries, and strivings that bring you here now, you do not have to carry them alone. I can help you find relief, but relief is only the beginning. If you struggle with cumulative trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, or loss, I can help. I also welcome people working on issues of spirituality and sexuality, helping professionals wanting to deepen their own work, and social changemakers honing their effectiveness.
My Background and Approach
I have been working with patients for over 10 years, and I am honored by the trust people show in me. I bring to this work a robust background of study and experience, as well as an open heart and a capacity to listen carefully. My patients find they can openly share with me both familiar and surprising thoughts and feelings, dreams and disappointments, and myriad concerns of the body, mind, and soul. As a person with a visual disability, I also know what it’s like to find the way from shame to empowerment and advocacy. I will venture with you into what is not yet understood, so that we can discover together what is possible, and so that you can thrive, eventually, in the fullness of who you are. I earned my B.A. in Psychology at the College of Wooster, where I also studied music. I then received my Psy.D. from the Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology at Widener University, where I now serve as Adjunct Assistant Professor.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Sometimes, it is ok not to know, not to have all the answers. Who would we be without our quirks, our weirdnesses, our uncertainties, and the good-and-bad flavors of our heritages? Yet so often, the world says, "that's not good enough," "in order to be loved, you have to be ___," or "there is no place for you." How does a person go on living in a world full of trauma? Healing oneself goes hand in hand with healing the brokenness of the world, a little bit at a time. Whatever way one ventures, it is a worthy struggle.
