I'm here to help you or your teen find hope, community, and healing.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Edmonds, WA
I have training in EMDR (eye movement reprocessing desensitization), Internal Family Systems, and TF-CBT (trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy). These are evidence based treatments proven to help with the symptoms associated with trauma. I'm experienced with complex and preverbal trauma. I believe there is no trauma that is too small or too big to seek treatment.
My clinical experience is entirely with adolescents -- they are my favorite clients to work with! Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, exploring your identity, or having difficulties with motivation and peers, I may be able to offer support.
Anxiety can have many different forms, and is never one size fits all. I have training in CBT, DBT, and have helped many clients overcome their anxiety to return to the life they want to live.
CBT works by looking at the connection between our thoughts, feelings, and actions. These three things are in a constant feedback loop, and by adjusting one, we adjust the others. CBT is highly effective in reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression. TF-CBT addresses trauma symptoms, in part by acknowledging the negative beliefs that we've developed and working to find more adaptive, helpful beliefs in a world that feels unsafe.
Family systems work is very important to me. No family member exists in a silo -- we are all impacting each other whether we realize it or not. Thus, change cannot occur in one person without change occurring in the family as a whole.
EMDR is an incredible modality for treating trauma. It is not talk therapy, which has pros and cons. If you are someone who does not want to talk about your trauma but still want to get to the root of your challenges, EMDR may be for you.
