My approach to addiction treatment is based on a deep understanding of the complex interplay between biological, psychological, and social factors that contribute to addictive behaviors. This approach includes evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), as well as holistic approaches

My approach to trauma therapy is grounded in the latest research on trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and includes evidence-based treatments such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and trauma-focused therapy. I also incorporate mindfulness and other holistic approaches to help clients manage the physical and emotional symptoms of trauma.

CBT is a type of psychotherapeutic treatment that helps people learn how to identify and change destructive or disturbing thought patterns that have a negative influence on behavior and emotions. CBT focuses on changing the automatic negative thoughts that can contribute to and worsen emotional difficulties, depression, and anxiety. These thoughts are identified, challenged, and replaced with more objective, realistic thoughts.

The main goals of DBT are to teach people how to live in the moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate their emotions, and improve their relationships with others. It can help people who have difficulty with emotional regulation or are exhibiting self-destructive behaviors (such as eating disorders and substance use disorders). This type of therapy is also sometimes used to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy builds upon the principles of cognitive therapy by using techniques such as mindfulness meditation to teach people to consciously pay attention to their thoughts and feelings without placing any judgments upon them. A primary assumption of cognitive therapy is that thoughts precede moods and that false self-beliefs lead to negative emotions such as depression and anxiety.

I use evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based stress reduction, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to help clients develop skills for managing their stress and improving their overall well-being.

Through techniques like CBT, mindfulness, and self-reflection, I assist clients in challenging negative self-beliefs and cultivating self-compassion. I help them identify and build upon their strengths, set realistic goals, and develop healthy coping mechanisms. My aim is to foster a positive self-image, enhance self-acceptance, and empower clients to develop a greater sense of confidence and self-worth.

I recognize that not everyone responds to a one-size-fits-all method, so I provide a diverse range of therapies aimed at supporting addiction recovery. These therapies include both conventional approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), as well as holistic interventions. My goal is to empower individuals.

I believe in creating a safe and affirming environment where clients can openly discuss their experiences and identities. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals, I utilize culturally competent strategies to offer support and guidance. My aim is to empower clients to embrace their true selves, navigate challenges, and lead fulfilling lives.
