About My Clients
I am passionate about working with individuals who are dedicating time to their personal development. My ideal clients are open to growth and are interested in learning more about themselves. They are ready to confront challenges and learn from the past to improve their futures, and they are committed to the therapy process just as much as I am. Whether working on EMDR addressing trauma or setting goals related to substance use, my ideal clients are ready to work hard to heal, learn, and grow.
My Background and Approach
I have an eclectic approach, utilizing methods that best suit each individual's problems and circumstances. I have been trained in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to treat an assortment of issues. My areas of focus include substance use disorders, trauma, anxiety, depression, identity exploration, emotion regulation, bipolar disorder, stress sensitivity, and grief. I feel it is important to engage with all my clients in a way that communicates my warmth and acceptance, and to create a trusting, safe space to process and resolve challenges. As I get to know you, I will learn how to best assist you and offer specific tools from my training to best meet your needs. While therapy isn't always fun, it is my goal to make it an overall enjoyable experience as our mutual trust builds and we make progress, together.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am committed to the pursuit of anti-racist beliefs and practices, and to decreasing the stigma associated with all mental health related diagnoses and treatment. I am an ally to all marginalized communities and I aim to offer inclusivity, acceptance, judgement free and openminded support to all. I believe that a person’s worldview is shaped by social, biological and psychological factors that result in unique sets of strengths, needs, abilities and preferences, and it is my intention to deeply understand how each of these personally intersect for you. I believe in the transformative power of self-exploration and insight that the therapy process can facilitate, and I treat my role as your therapist as an honor and a privilege.
